About

b. 1994 Austin, Texas. Mady lives and Works in London.

Mady is a storyteller, creating her own reality by means of humour, hyperbole and disguise. Interested in the intersection of fantasy and the unconscious, her work often plays with the power of the imagination to create and manipulate internal worlds. In both painting and costume she is interested in how a garment can create a mysticism surrounding the wearer and how something familiar can be presented in a foreign or unfamiliar way. She aims to create an imaginative world which transforms reality.

Originally from Austin, Texas, Mady studied Fashion and Textiles at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There she developed her passion of storytelling through garments and fell in love with textile creation through dying, printing and painting on fabric. Mady has interned for fashion designers such as Bernhard Willhelm, Vivienne Westwood, and Walter Van Beirendonck before pursuing costume design. In 2018 she received an MA with Distinction in Costume Design for Performance from London College of Fashion. Mady currently works as a multidisciplinary artist in London working across Costume and Painting.
